"I have always seen African countries open their doors to refugees and migrants", said the United Nations chief, adding that this is a lesson other parts of the world could learn from.

President Muhammadu Buhari has departed Abuja for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to participate in the 30th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU). The AU has chosen the theme of winning the fight against corruption as a sustainable launch pad for Africa and its transformation. He has the role of flagging off the continent's wide war against corruption.

The Secretary of State also noted that more should be done to encourage synergies and links between the private sectors to ensure that the projects are fully realised. "So it is a big thing for our country".

Other important meetings planned on the margins of the AU Summit include a meeting of the African Peer Review Mechanism of which Namibia is a member and meeting of the Committee of Ten Heads of State and Government for Education, Science, and Technology in Africa for which Namibia is a co-champion.

It will also elect 10 members of the Peace and Security Council (PSC) for a two-year term.

"The endorsement is, in addition, a recognition of the President Buhari administration's commitment and glowing success in the fight against corruption in Nigeria".
