Serena Williams reveals dramatic health complications after daughter's birth

Back when Serena Williams originally announced her baby's arrival, via social media postings with her husband Alexis Ohanian in September, she said in a video, "We had a lot of complications, but look what we've got". Smoking, being overweight and obesity, and genetics are all factors that may cause blood clotting. She had stopped taking her daily anticoagulant regime because of her recent procedure. She ordered nurses to provide a CT scan and an IV drip of heparin, a blood-thinning medication.

Williams, who recently announced that she would not be returning to the Australian Open to defend her title, also expressed her vast desire to get back to dominance on the court.

Soon after the clot drama, her C-section wound popped open from coughing from the pulmonary embolism.

Serena said the first complication started when she suffered a shortness of breath, and because of her history of blood clots, she insisted she needed a CT scan - leading doctors to find several small blood clots in her lungs. The cause: the blood thinner she'd resumed.

A filter was inserted into a major vein, in order to prevent more clots from traveling to her lungs. Sadly, the new mother found no comfort in her daughter's cries. In all, she was off the tour for about 10 months at the time, returning in 2011.

Monaco coach Leonardo Jardim hints at sale of Liverpool target Thomas Lemar
The former were willing to sell Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City this summer if they could get Lemar, but the deal fell through. Speaking at a press conference on Monday afternoon, the 43-year-old Portuguese said "we are not used to selling in the winter".

The medical ordeal combined with new motherhood temporarily overwhelmed Williams. The entire experience left her bedridden for the first six weeks of motherhood.

'That was an incredible feeling, and then everything went bad, ' said Williams.

Serena Williams' daughter knows how to strike a pose! "Or I'll get angry about the crying, then sad about being angry, and then guilty, like, 'Why do I feel so sad when I have a attractive baby?' The emotions are insane".

On December 30, she lost an exhibition match against Jelena Ostapenko, the 2017 French Open champion, at the World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi. I'm not sure why we think that way, but I know that we're sometimes taught to not dream as big as men, not to believe we can be a president or a CEO, when in the same household, a male child is told he can be anything he wants. She had targeted the Australian Open, which she won previous year while only a few weeks pregnant, but that did not pan out after an exhibition match loss to Jelena Ostapenko last week. "I'm so glad I had a daughter".
