"They told me there would be tea", she joked after performing her debut single Vision Of Love. Oh, it's a disaster!
When it seemed, there was no tea to be found she continued: "Oh this is a disaster, well we're just going to have to rough it". "I'm gonna be just like everybody else with no hot tea".
While her vocals may not be as effortless as they once were, and the cold weather no doubt put a strain on her voice, we think she put on a fabulous show. After greeting the New Year at midnight, she went on to sing a rendition of Frank Sinatra's "New York, New York", which was blaring over speakers. But the must-see footage also demonstrated the durability of Carey's uncommon charisma; even in a moment of crisis, she was throwing out loopy one-liners with her signature blend of queenliness and grit. "Get these monitors on please", she said. If you tuned into any number of news channels covering the ball drop last night then you certainly got to watch some great performances.

Host Ryan Seacrest asked Carey how she felt following her performance to which she replied, "I'm feeling a lot better than a year ago, when I had to get my own police escort".
