More than 20 people were injured Tuesday morning when a seven-alarm fire struck an apartment building in the Bronx, a Fire Department of NY spokesman said.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.

The fire is believed to have started in the Beverly Hills Furniture store on the street level of the four-floor building.

Last Thursday, a fire at a residential building near Bronx Zoo killed 12 people.

The Fire Department of NY says 23 people, including a firefighter, are hurt following a Bronx blaze.

The blaze quickly spread to the upper floors, leaving one person seriously injured while 11 others suffered non-life threatening injuries, officials said.

The multi-storey building is situated on the corner of the Commonwealth and Bronx River avenues in Van Nest.

Another resident escaped with her two children and dog.

That blaze started after a three-year-old boy was playing with a stove. At least 12 people were injured. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio called it the worst fire tragedy the city has seen in a quarter century.
