FOX 5 spoke to a close friend of Davis who said she had a medical emergency at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
- Amanda Davis, who has been a staple of television news in Atlanta for decades, has suffered a stroke.
Just last week she shared a photo on Twitter of a bouquet of flowers she had been sent in the wake of her stepfather's death.

"Her family is asking for privacy at this hard time", the station said. Amanda friends and colleagues at CBS 46 are praying for her family'.

One police officer, a 46-year-old man with 23 years of service, fired several rounds into a door jamb to distract Ross. I feel bad for whoever is going through this", said neighbor Kristen Alexander, reported AZFamily.com.
Davis gave an interview detailing her battle with alcoholism in a 2016 interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
In Davis' last tweet on December 20, she thanked her friend Debbie Turman for sending flowers after the death of her father. Amanda was at the airport on her way to San Antonio, where she was headed following the death of her stepfather.
She wrote: 'Stay strong, keep praising the Lord'. We thought she retired then she fought her way through to get back to doing what she loved. Also not clear is whether Davis may have at any point relapsed during her road to sobriety.
She was rushed to a hospital and treated, but it proved to be too late. On the air, she said, "I am an alcoholic" - but she was so very much more. Amanda has been open about her struggle with alcoholism.
"Saddened to hear about the sudden passing of Atlanta news icon, Amanda Davis", Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed tweeted Wednesday night.
