That decision avoided three straight trips to the Fiesta for Ohio State and also a Penn State-USC rematch in the Fiesta. The Huskies beat the Scarlet Knights 30-14 in New Jersey en route to a 10-2 season with wins over Washington State, Oregon, UCLA.
Washington and Penn State will meet in the postseason for the second time.
Penn State has played in the Fiesta Bowl six times in history and won in all six appearances. Penn State is returning to the scene of one of its greatest all-time victories after accepting an invitation Sunday to play Washington of the Pac 12 in the Fiesta Bowl on December 30 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.
