Jimbo Fisher has left his job as head coach of Florida State to join Texas A&M.

Confirmed: ESPN had a spot months ago that featured a UL-Monroe Warhawks fan getting Fisher out of the picture at Florida State. However, despite being ranked No. 3 heading into this season, Florida State has just five wins and is merely aiming to become bowl eligible. Odell Haggins will act as interim head coach.

Texas A&M will pay Fisher $75 million over 10 years, which is the largest deal in college football history in terms of total value.

Rumors are also spreading as to why Fisher chose to leave the university in the first place.

Fisher's silence has already had an impact on recruiting as three players who were verbal commitments have said they have chose to reopen their searches.

On ESPNU SiriusXM radio Thursday, Fisher said he was not going to talk about potential jobs.

Last December, Fisher signed a contract extension through 2024 that made him among the highest-paid coaches in the country. He led the Aggies to an 11-2 record in his first season in 2012, including 6-2 in the Southeastern Conference which included a win at top-ranked Alabama.

"Obviously, he feels like it's the right move for him".

Fisher is 83-23 in eight seasons since taking over for Bobby Bowden after the 2009 season. They'll hire a great coach.

Student Alexis Taylor said, "I hope that we can get better coaches". The top name so far has been first-year OR coach Willie Taggart, who took over at OR last offseason after turning around the South Florida program. "I've been waiting to come to this school and it's like really upsetting".
