Paxton Lynch Named Broncos Starting Quarterback

We have a crucial AFC West showdown on tap as the Denver Broncos face off against the Oakland Raiders in week 12 National Football League action.

Last year's first-round draft pick is already teetering toward the bust category, but he'll have one last chance to prove John Elway didn't waste a pick when he starts on Sunday against the Oakland Raiders.

The Broncos will make yet another change at quarterback for Week 12.

Hope is a term that isn't thrown around often within the Broncos' organization, particularly at the quarterback position.

Gamecocks coach Dawn Staley said Thursday the decision was not a political one, but rather a scheduling conflict that arose. Staley made no mention of politics nor hurt feelings in her statement.

Joseph fired Mike McCoy on Monday and quarterbacks coach Bill Musgrave will serve as the interim offensive coordinator for the remainder of the season. All of the pressure surrounding a postseason appearance has been lifted following poor play from Trevor Siemian and Brock Osweiler. Derek Carr completed 28 of his 49 pass attempts for 237 yards, a touchdown and an interception, while Marshawn Lynch led Oakland's ground attack with 11 catches for 67 yards.

Siemian's shoulder injury was serious enough to sideline him for two weeks, and the Broncos continued with Lynch against the Atlanta Falcons and Jacksonville Jaguars. Lynch had just three completions longer than 10 yards.

Lynch made two starts as a rookie last season in place of an injured Siemian. The two teams also share an O/U of 1-4 in their last 5 meetings. I would have said that right when I got hurt.

It's been a tumultuous season for the Denver Broncos as they try to move on from the Peyton Manning era, and now the man they spent a first round pick on to replace him, Paxton Lynch, is finally getting his shot.
