3 takeaways from the loss to Wisconsin

Peters, who had completed nine of 18 passes for 57 yards before exiting, is in his sophomore season with MI.

Jonathan Taylor finished with 132 yards on 19 carries, with 87 yards in the second half.

The Badgers recorded four first downs and ran just one play in MI territory during the first half, but they took a 7-0 lead on Nick Nelson's 50-yard punt return. The defense, coming off undisputedly best performance of the year, allowing only 66 yards of total offense to Iowa, hopes to continue its dominance - as it should against an offense as inconsistent as MI.

Linebacker Leon Jacobs forced MI quarterback Brandon Peters to fumble at the Wisconsin 2 in the second quarter. But despite barely being able to move the ball for a significant chunk of the afternoon, the Badgers took control in the final quarter and half. Three plays later, this time on third-and-16, Hornibrook stepped up to avoid pressure and fired a pass through a tight window to Taylor for a 24-yard touchdown.

The clear biggest matchup of a Saturday in college football lacking big games elsewhere offered few surprises.

Michigan's Ben Mason tied things up before halftime with a 1-yard touchdown run. The Wolverines are ranked 24th in the nation and the Badgers are coming off a win over then-No. The offense's rushing attack continues to plug along, led by potential Heisman hopeful Jonathan Taylor, who has now collected over 1500 yards rushing as a freshman.

That all changed after Hornibrook's interception.

Rain today through Saturday morning, but no hazardous weather expected
Travelling over mountain passes will be hard tonight into Saturday with snow, ice, and blowing snow. Monday night, the low will be around 41 with partly cloudy skies, according to the weather service.

In the second quarter, Peters found Peoples-Jones on a short pass in the end zone, but the play was ruled incomplete after his foot appeared to touch the white out-of-bounds line first.

MI (8-3, 5-3 Big Ten) closes out the regular season next Saturday at Ohio State.

Prior to the injury, Saturday's contest was a step in the right direction for the true freshman against one of the best defenses in college football. "He's going to meet us at the plane, and we'll know more after we see him". Peoples-Jones is the type of playmaker every team needs.

Without him, the already limited Wolverines didn't have the firepower to come back from a double-digit deficit.

This isn't as much of a knock on Alex Hornibrook as it is sympathizing with the Badgers.

Peters was sacked three times, a departure from recent games in which he had time to throw from the pocket.

Angelique S. Chengelis, Matt Charboneau, John Niyo and Bob Wojnowski predict the outcome of the Michigan-Wisconsin game. Still, Ohio State's front seven is looming as a major challenge, and the offensive line could be in trouble in a potential playoff game against a team like Alabama or Clemson.
